James Walker (Loveday 2019) is in his second year of a Geography undergraduate degree at Nottingham University. He and a group of fellow students are raising money for the Meningitis Research Foundation by climbing to Everest Base Camp. The team has pledged to raise over £90,000 between them, with each of them paying for the trek out of their own pockets and then having a personal target to fund raise.
Every penny of the money raised goes to the MRF, which aims to eradicate meningitis by 2030. This infection currently causes more deaths under the age of five than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined.
