Running order and guest speakers
Our speakers for the evening are Peter Gordon, Tonye Faloughi, Nicholas O'Keeffe and Tom Crump.
7pm Peter Gordon
Peter Gordon has a commercial broadcasting, media management and performance career of more than 30 years. In 1996 he launched, managed and presented on Surrey and Hampshire's leading commercial radio station, Eagle Radio, until it's takeover by Bauer Media earlier this year. He is a media and communications adviser to businesses, organisations and individuals. Peter is also an occasional actor with several appearances in theatres locally. Peter is a trained journalist and has a degree in Politics from the University of York.
7.30pm Tonye Faloughi-Ekezie
Mrs Tonye Faloughi-Ekezie is a wife, mother and entrepreneur. As the head of TEEOF Media, she consults on media and entertainment projects for a range of clients. With the life lessons learnt and the experiences of being a mother, she has created a book series, Ugo and Sim Sim, based on her own children. More recently she has launched the platfomr Simone's Oasis dedictated to establishing a new norm for what our black and African children can dream and achieve.
8.00pm Nicholas O'Keeffe
After discovering a passion for journalism whilst living in Australia, Nick and his partner founded Arcane Media, an independent media company with a focus on cultures and travel from around the globe. However, it is his career since then that has allowed him to explore so many different avenues within the media industry, ranging from investigative journalism, to radio presenting to media production. The diversity of this industry is never ending and that's what continues to makes it so exciting to Nick.
8.30pm Tom Crump
Having started a career in Finance in 2011 Tom soon realised it wasn't for him, it wasn't what he was passionate about. Through lots of networking he received an opportunity to do work experience at Sky Sports. 10 years later he's still there, having enjoyed many memorable experiences covering (mainly) Cricket all over the world. As a Producer and Reporter he's worked with, dined with and drunk with many of his childhood sporting heroes. It is a job that has provided more experiences that he could ever have imagined and one he hopes has many more to come.
Also on Thursday 19th November, we will be making live the Career Resources page on this site where you will be able to find interviews with other members of the Cranleigh community who work in the media industry. They include Alan Rusbridger, journalist and former editor of the Guardian; Sue Llewellyn, a former broadcast journalist for the BBC and social media specialist who runs Ultra Social; and Will Stokes, a 3D artist in the games industry.
We look forward to seeing you on 19th November. Please do click the button to receive the meeting ID and password.
